Srushti Deshmukh began to prepare for the UPSC entry in her 3rd year of engineering degree. She questioned whether engineering was an appropriate career path for her. Eventually, she realised that civil service was what she loved and focused on the field. Her parents encouraged her to go into civil service, and to pursue a public-service career. She was motivated and determined to become the IAS officer. To achieve UPSC, you have to put in more work. She prepared for UPSC subject areas while she was studying her engineering. This exam preparation was done daily. She prepared for engineering tests in only one and a half months and avoided social life as well as social media altogether. She is convinced that focus is essential to crack this government exam and become an officer in the civil service. She set out to make it through the exam quickly, so she was able to put in a lot of hours. Every day, she read the newspapers to stay abreast on the current news. Additionally, she got lots of help online collecting different studies materials, and also watching Rajya Sabha TV.
